Corporate social activism

It's now trendy for corporations to adopt social causes. They are told by the marketing aficionados that appearing socially conscious and responsible plays well in purpose economies. The premise is that there is a strong consumer demographic that wants to think of themselves as purpose focused and consuming with this intention puts their consumption to good use for good.

However authentic the dynamic on both sides of the purchase, corporate social activism could be a way of heightening social consciousness for producers and purchases alike.
