Potentially, board members can bring any combination of core resources to organizations: dollars, talent and connections. And it's ok that some people bring fewer than all three.
People who have little time and not a rich network of influential or resourceful connections can just contribute dollars. People without dollars or networks can bring talents. People without unique talents or dollars can contribute important connections. Some people can bring two or all of these three kinds of resources.
Any board contributions can be unspecified and at large or dedicated to specific strategic and operational projects. In thanks, the organization needs to do everything it can to create ways to help extend and enrich board member networks across the community.
