Meditation is concentrating on any object. It can be giving attention to a thought or feeling, sound or sight. This is the simple, dedicated practice of bringing attention back from distraction to a chosen object of awarenesss. Meditation strengthens mindfulness.
Mindfulness is noticing change. In the moment, it's noticing how our experience in each moment is different from the last. It's noticing the subtle and obvious differences in each fresh moment. Mindfulness creates focus in a clear, calm mind. In this space, we are less reactive.
